The best (or only place) for menudo and pozole in NYC. The taste, texture, & temperature of the food was excellent. Next time I go back, I will definitely be visiting. I'm the West Coast - San Diego.
I've ate here several times. Food is always delicious! Hard to find authentic Mexican food in NYC , glad I found this little dive. My go to for posole. It's the bomb!
My coworker turned me onto this place. I usually get the chicken or beef lunch special. For $12 you get a great amount of chicken/beef, rice, beans, salad, and a can of soda. It always tastes fresh and they’re pretty quick with delivery.
Ive also tried the torte and the quesadilla, all great stuff with an authentic spin. If you’re expecting taco bell, this isn’t for you. Be prepared to eat.
The food here at this modest family business is always yummy! I have been coming here for years. I got 3 birria tacos with consumé for $18 and ¡qué rico! Máximo's (the friendly chef) wife makes birria a lil different. I couldn't tell what was the magical ingredient that made a party in my mouth. Lol
It is a very busy small Mexican restaurant very down to earth, the food is delicious, the service is fast and good. Try the lunch special, beef beans and rice with a small salad you couldn't beat the price
I can't even explain how delicious the food is, if you looking for some real Mexican food this is the place. And the staff is very kind. Keep up the good job 👏👍👌 …
I have been coming here since 2005 (usually exhausted, often painfully so, from working hard.) To explain my ratings: This is a counter-service, hole-in-the-wall, working-class establishment. Nothing is beautiful or particularly comfortable here, except the food, which is magical.
So you stumble in, try to find an empty table, or a chair, if it's really busy, and look up at the placard menu to find some solace. (It has photos of the actual dishes, w/prices.)
The owner and his wife often work the counter and will take your order. Drinks are in a couple coolers in the back, along with desserts. Slightly obscured by the register is a tiny blackboard, with the daily specials - usually in Spanish. The clientele leans heavily in the Mexican direction - a sure sign of good, authentic Mexican cuisine.
Awesome burrito spot not far from 5th avenue. This place makes food that's very authentic and rich in flavor. I ordered the carnitas, tongue and chorizo tacos. It was delicious! Well seasoned and cooked just right. The tacos are not small in size and expect to eat around 3 to get full. Even on a rainy night this hidden gem was packed. I'll definitely be back to sample their other Mexican dishes.
